Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT ARE LASH EXTENSIONS?
Lash extensions are used to enhance your natural lashes and make them look fuller and longer; and, eliminate the need for mascara.
ARE LASH EXTENSIONS HARD TO CARE FOR?
They're a bit of a routine change and you'll generally be in sync within the first week. Trust us, they're totally worth it!
HOW ARE LASH EXTENSIONS APPLIED?
We use single synthetic lashes, of varying lengths and thickness, applied to your individual natural lashes, approximately 1mm away from your natural lash line. A special bonding adhesive, formulated for this process around the eye, is used to apply lash extensions.
WILL THEY DAMAGE MY NATURAL LASHES?
If the proper aftercare protocol is followed, lash extensions should not damage your own natural lashes; and, you'll look great all the time!
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO APPLY LASH EXTENSIONS?
Approximately 2 hours for a full set and approximately 1 hour for a re-lash. Removal and random fill-ins can take 30 minutes to 1 hr. Think of it as some downtime from your daily demands. After your relaxing application process, you look totally "refreshed".
WHAT IF I DONT WANT THEM ANYMORE, CAN I HAVE THEM REMOVED?
Yes. Removal is something that should only be done by a professional lash technician. Professional grade products are specially formulated to remove the bond between the lash extension and your natural lash, without damaging your own lashes. Attempting to remove the lash extensions on your own could permanently damage your own natural lashes.
WHAT TYPE OF LASH EXTENSIONS WILL BE USED?
We use synthetic lashes with varying thickness from .15 to .20mm and varying lengths from 8mm to 14mm, to ensure you get the look you want.
WILL THEY LOOK NATURAL?
Yes. Properly applied lash extensions should appear as if they are naturally there; however, you have the option of choosing looks that are long and more dramatic. Your lash technician will help you choose a look that compliments and flatters you. You'll love your new look!
HOW LONG WILL THEY LAST?
Approximately 2-4 weeks. Most people have "fill" appointments about every 3 weeks. Lash extensions are not guaranteed to last a certain amount of time; however, depending on your lifestyle and home care, they should last anywhere from 2-4 weeks. You will lose lashes throughout the time between your "fill" appts. The amount of lashes you lose; and, how quickly you lose them, will depend on how you sleep, if you rub your eyes, and the make-up and cleansers you use, etc.
DOES THE APPLICATION PROCESS HURT?
No, not at all, most people find it very relaxing.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY LASH EXTENSIONS?
They're pretty low-maintenance, that's the beauty of it! Follow the proper aftercare instructions given to you by your lash technician. There's a list at the end of these FAQ's.
HOW DO I WASH MY FACE WITH LASH EXTENSIONS?
Water based cleansers are recommended. Do not use oil based makeup removal products. When cleaning the eye area, do it very gently. If you have any residual eye makeup after you cleanse, you may use a water based eye makeup remover on a Q-Tip to gently remove it then just rinse with a little water.
WHAT ABOUT FACIAL CREAMS, SERUMS AND SUNSCREEN?
Avoid getting these products on your lashes. When you apply these products to your upper eyelid area, make sure you don't apply them below the orbital bone (the bone around the eye), because these products are made to "migrate" and they will naturally travel lower than you apply them.
CAN I WEAR MASCARA/EYELINER WITH MY LASH EXTENSIONS?
Mascara, liquid eyeliner and oil-based eyeliners (and removal of these products) can interfere with the bond between your natural lash and the lash extension. Non-oil-based pencil liners or "wetting" your eye shadow with some plain water and using an angled brush is a good alternative.
*NOTE: WE DO RECOMMEND THAT YOU USE THE LASH CONDITIONER RECOMMENDED BY YOUR TECHNICIAN.
CAN I SWIM WITH LASH EXTENSIONS?
Yes.
CAN ANYONE WEAR LASH EXTENSIONS?
No. People without natural lashes of their own, can't. People with very oily skin, people with consistent allergies (itchy/watery eyes) and people who touch their eyes frequently, should not wear lash extensions because this can interfere with the lash bond.
People with current/chronic eye infections or under the care of a physician for an eye condition; should not wear lash extensions. You, as the client, are responsible for supplying us with truthful information regarding any eye conditions you have; or, think you may have, for your safety, as well as ours.
IS THERE ANY PREPARATION BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT?
Please arrive at your appointment with no facial make-up and no eye make-up. Lash extensions cannot be bonded to lashes with makeup on them. We appreciate you arriving at least 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to complete/update your client record.
CANCELLATIONS:
A minimum of 24 hours cancelation notice is appreciated, as it allows us to give your appointment time to another client. We understand that emergencies arise and we will do our best to work with you; however, your cooperation is appreciated.
AFTER-CARE:
Lash Extensions are a great way to wake up every day looking great! They're an investment in your beauty and do require some simple care on your part. In order to get them to last the longest time possible, we recommend that you:
- Do not rub your eyes or pull on the lashes
-When you wake up in the morning, if your lashes need a bit of adjustment, you may gently comb through your lashes with the lash brush that your technician gave you; or, you can gently touch the tips of your lashes with the tip of your finger (make sure your hands are clean!) and gently adjust your lashes.
- Avoid saunas and steam rooms.
- Sleep with an eye mask that "cups" your eye so that your lashes don't rub on your pillow.
- Use the proper aftercare products, including the lash conditioner, as suggested by your technician and follow aftercare instructions.
- Schedule your "fill" appointments as suggested by your technician
- Do not attempt to remove the lashes on your own as it could damage your natural lashes. Always have them removed by a professional.
- Avoid getting serums, creams and sunscreens too close to the lash line
- Do Not Use:
liquid eyeliner
oil-based make-up or make-up removers or facial cleansers
mascara (especially waterproof), unless it's formulated for extensions
